Birthright - Making Progress
I started writing my first full length book in January 2009, and had the first chapters finished within a few months. Then came the writer's block that you hear about, and from July to December I wrote precisely nothing... Starting up in December 2009, I've added another 35,000 words, and in so doing, reached the all-important halfway mark. Now, I've got to finish...

Now at 84,000 words, and my head is full of ideas for the rest of the second half. I'm aiming for around 110,000 words for the first draft. All I have to do now is recover from RSI in my right wrist...
ReplyDeleteStill, it gives me time for a breather, and to re-read the sections I've written in the past few weeks... It's all good.

ReplyDeleteHave now finished the first draft - in December 2010 - and the first edit - in April 2011. Exciting. I was impressed (admittedly with myself) to find that there were very few glaring errors - for example, a short run of chapters where Tuesday happened twice - and just a few loose ends to straighten up at the end...
